Nas-Backed Escobar Cigars Expands: New House Blend and Natural-Leaf 'CUTS' Wraps Launch
Escobar Cigars, the premium brand co-owned by hip-hop legend Nas, is widening its footprint and its product range. In an expanded partnership with distributor Cigar Chief announced in late July, the company unveiled a four-cigar House Blend collection, a direct-to-consumer platform called Cigars and Stripes, and its first move beyond cigars entirely: Leaf CUTS, a line of pre-cut natural tobacco-leaf wraps.
From Robustos to Rolling Leaf
The House Blend collection consists of four robustos—all 5 x 52, all rolled with classic Cuban entubado bunching—blended by Abe Flores and produced at the PDR Cigars factory in the Dominican Republic. The profiles span the flavor map: a rich Maduro, a creamy Connecticut, an Ecuador Habano, and a closed-foot Connecticut, running mild-to-medium through medium-full.

The cigars will move through retail shops and lounges alongside the new Cigars and Stripes online platform, which the company frames as a complement to brick-and-mortar rather than a replacement. For those seeking similar premium experiences, the Corona Cigars collection offers a wide variety of hand-rolled options.
The more surprising launch is Leaf CUTS: 100% natural, pre-cut Nicaraguan Habano leaf wraps with no additives, sold in a resealable pouch. It is a premium play on the blunt-wrap and tobacco rolling wraps aisle—the same natural-leaf territory as Natural Fronto Leaf, but pre-cut and packaged for convenience, with cigar-grade Habano leaf as the selling point. For a brand built on $250 Ultra Black Platinum boxes, it is a deliberate reach toward the everyday natural-leaf smoker.
The Nas Factor and the Machine Behind It
Escobar was founded in 2017 by David Gomes and Michael McNaughton, with blends developed in Estelí, Nicaragua. Nas joined as co-owner and strategic partner in 2021, and the brand now claims a presence in more than 20 countries. Its playbook pairs celebrity gravity with serious tobacco names; earlier collaborations include AJ Fernandez and E.P. Carrillo.

"This partnership marks the next chapter for Escobar," co-founder Gomes said regarding the distribution deal.
Distribution runs through Cigar Chief, the Ontario-based retailer that has been Escobar's exclusive Canadian distributor since 2024 and now handles the broader North American expansion. The wider trend is unmistakable: celebrity tobacco brands keep multiplying. The ones that last tend to be those—like Escobar—that put established blenders and factories behind the famous name.
What It Means for Shoppers
For cigar smokers, a $13-range core line and a new house blend from a PDR-made celebrity brand is an approachable curiosity. The Leaf CUTS launch matters more for the wraps aisle: natural-leaf smokers who already reach for Al Capone Wraps or other premium options are getting another choice positioned explicitly on leaf quality.
A celebrity brand entering that category signals how much the natural-leaf segment has grown. The usual caveats apply—celebrity branding says nothing about what's in the pouch, and tobacco products carry inherent risks, regardless of the marketing.
The Bottom Line
Escobar is executing the modern celebrity-tobacco playbook: credible factories, a widening price ladder, and now a bridge from the humidor to the rolling tray. Whether Leaf CUTS can compete in a crowded loose leaf tobacco wraps market will be the real test of the brand's pull beyond the cigar lounge. For those interested in how other segments are evolving, pouches take over the backbar as traditional categories shift.
